The Albany Bulb is a great place to wander around for a couple of hours, bring a friend, and just explore! You'll see something different every time you go! - Jenni , posted 07/27/05

Best for OUTSIDER ART
Bring your camera. You have to find it, but there's art everywhere. Just don't let your dog roll in anything dead and stinky. - Schwartz , posted 04/06/05

I love it!
Albany Bulb is a former landfill site that is now a dog park and art gallery. Amazing place w/beautiful views of the bay. Very inspiring! - Kelly , posted 10/15/04

Outdoor museum
The albany bulb, over by the race track, is a great place to go for a run, walk your dog, or just explore on a lazy day. When I went we walked around from the left and followed the path made of concrete slabs dragged down, one by one, by the homeless guy who used to live in the castle above. That was our second destination. This man built himself a two story castle from the remains of whatever used to occupy the bulb. (Military?) It's very impressive. After that we came to an oudoor sculpture garden. All of the sculptures were made from random scraps, trinckets, wires, whatever came in handy. There is also a wall collage that you could get lost in. Keep going and you'll see even bigger sculptures - dinosaurs and gigantic sponge people. Beyond that there is a line up of large murals. They are museum quality, although the older ones are beginning to fade from exposure. I could go on and on, but it's best to just go see for yourself. And it's free! - onlineKatie , posted 10/14/04

8th wonder of the world?
I know people who have lived in the East Bay a long time & have never been to "the Bulb." Too bad for them. What happens when you take a former building materials dump on a peninsula that juts out into the bay and construct a bunch of crazy art on it? Go find out for yourself - amazing paintings, a little castle with a great view, metal sculptures built out of old bicycles & shopping carts. Bring your dog. Bring your camera. Park in the lot just north of Golden Gate Fields (or even better, ride your bike!) and explore. - Joe , posted 10/07/04

A great place to explore, with or without a dog
The Albany Bulb, just off 80 near the race track, is an excellent place to remind yourself why you live in the bay area. There's a small sandy beach where you and/or your dog can get your feet wet. If you want to go for a little longer walk you can check out the paintings on the north side of the bulb, public art left by a number of different artists. - Lala , posted 10/06/04
