I used to live in San Anselmo and loved that there was a great music venue just a few minutes from my house. I went there quite often and saw many different bands there. Great atmosphere, great staff and wonderful open deck. I miss it. - Tree , posted 02/27/05 |
 I drove up from the Peninsula because a dear friend of mine was playing there as a special guest of a world beat band whose name escapes me (with deep apologies to all involved). The music was excellent. The rest of the experience at the venue was fine too. I remember more about the town of Fairfax, really. One of the best live music spots in the North Bay, 19 Broadway features a surprisingly eclectic roster of bands and djs, from reggae to folk to rock to jazz. They get some big names (The Breeders played there recently), and support local artists as well. They recently pumped a bunch of money into the sound system, which now sounds great, and added a tiki bar for chillign with an umbrella in your drink if the opening band sucks. The great thing about 19Broadway is that there's something for everyone! They get the hottest blues bands in the county, sure. All bars say that. But on top of this they attract an eclectic mix of folkies, freaks, local musicians, and national and international phenoms. Recently? Berlin and a Black Sabbath tribute band!! 19 Broadway is the place in Marin County featuring the best blend of nationally-renowned and local live blues, rock, jazz, and reggae music.
