a lounge of yuppie posers
This is another Kingman's lounge, which seem to be springing up around the East Bay as the bedfellow of Starbucks. You walk into a place like this, and if you are truely hip, you immediately realize that most every one in there is simply some insipid yuppie trying to pose as if they are cool - which they most certainly are not. The interior has a very artificial and bovine appearance, with lighting that is trying to hard to be sexy. This place is a prime example of the gentrification of the East Bay, as several bar's in Alameda, Oakland, and elsewhere have been taken over and turned into these cheesy, prosaic "lounges," as the word "bar" is now too much of a working class term for these sorry, pathetic yuppie posers. If this place does not make you sick, you might want to try looking for your individuality, which you have obviously lost. - Unsubscribed , posted 01/25/07

have they added additional seating yet?
I won't go back unless there are more places to sit in there. Couches and coffee tables are nice for cafes, but they take up too much space in a bar. - Wella , posted 01/08/06

good for the neighborhood
comfortable spot for all kinds of people. Stick with straight forward drinks or some of their specials. - Laura , posted 03/09/05

upscale bar on Grand Ave. in Oaktown
Kingman's is a badly-needed, upscale bar that has a great selection of alcohol and can make all the upscale cocktails... the crowd is very diverse and often friendly. Whenever I'm in the Grand Ave. area of Oakland, I try to duck in for a quick one. - Dave K. , posted 01/10/05

Fun spot, get lucky
A fun spot on Lake Merritt. Good DJs most of the time. Nice sofas and generally a chill atmosphere. The back does tend to turn into a make-out lounge from time to time if the crowd is randy. Decent wine selection. - Shameless Heather , posted 10/15/04

Great mix of Oaklands hipsters and locals. Plus I can walk home from there. - RoyBoy , posted 10/09/04

Chill Lounge
The Lucky Lounge is chill, mellow and depending on which night you go, the dj's spin a variety of music (soul, house, etc). The have daily drink specials and great happy hours rates. You can get a cocktail for $2.50, that works for me!! - tre-tre , posted 10/08/04

Lucky Hour
This local bar has great specialty drinks and friendly bartenders. During the week, between 8-9 pm, they have "Lucky Hour" and all drinks are half price! Sample cocktails such as the Luck be a Lady or the Pineapple Upside Down Cake (a personal favorite). Located at 3332 Grand Ave - Marcy , posted 10/06/04

Lounge atmosphere
Lucky Lounge is a great bar in the Grand-Lake district. Great decor, comfy seats. The staff is nice, and the clientele is diverse. Hoppin and cool, but not uncomfortably hipster. Grand-Lake Theater is a block away, and some great food too. Easy parking at night. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/06/04
