Looking for a Didjeridu player who plays
Fusion & Trance Didj
for SAT. DECEMBER. 12th, 2009.
AXIS MUNDI Sonic Shamanic Trance Groove band in
SAN FRANCISCO/BAY AREA, CA
is currently looking for a Didj player for a gig on Dec. 12th.
The pay is $50.00
This person may also end up being frequent guest or
alternate back-up player.
This position is for Didjeridu ONLY, (could include other
'untempered' instruments like Mouth Harp.) It does NOT
include any melodic/tempered wind instruments, or vocal,
or percussion work.
Our sets are continuous for about 40 minutes to an hour,
(with variations in tempo, volume and mood,) and the Didj
person needs to be able to play for a long time. The Didj is
a very important part of our sound and not only provides a
drone, but also tonal rhythmic interludes and a kind of 'call
and response' with the vocals of our Vedic Chant Master.
Axis Mundi's music and rituals have been featured in RAVE
Magazine INDIA, MAGICAL BLEND Magazine USA, WELL BEING
Magazine AU, KINDRED SPIRIT Yoga Journal UK, and the new
reprint of Timothy Leary's 'START YOUR OWN RELIGION'. Our
music is completely IMPROVISED and based on the Tantric
Vedic tradition of Kundalini Yoga known as ANAHATA-NAD
"Spontaneously Arising Sound", and is combined with modern
electronics to emulate the acoustics of the ancient Cave
Rituals in India. We are a blend of amplified Acoustic: Didj,
Doumbec & D'jembe drums, and Electronic: World Drum
patches & samples on the HandSonic,and processed vocals -
Devotional Trance Chant with real-time electronic effects &
live Looping. Everyone in the band contributes equally to our
sound, which is very primal and organic.
There is a very participatory Community around us; a large
following of wonderful people who come to our events to
Trance Dance to our live sacred sound, enjoy the brief rituals,
and take quality time to relax and connect with each other.
