Cozy I bedroom garden apartment in “green” duplex/urban farm
North Oakland x streets are 60th & MLK
Available December 1 or 15 (1st prefered)
$895 includes water & garbage. PGE & DSL shared. $1790 move in
The good: Large eat-in kitchen, bedroom, living room and bath. The kitchen has lots of cabinets and there is one large closet in the hallway. About 600 sq ft. total. Every room has windows and looks out onto the garden. Private side entrance. Bamboo flooring in kitchen and bath, electric radiant heat flooring with tile in bedroom and living room. Wood counters. Clean, dry and bright. Access to gorgeous garden, patio area and area for your own personal gardening. There are three bee hives on the property, plus small greywater system, fruit trees, vegetable and herb garden, rabbits, birds and more. Some storage available. Shared laundry and shared DSL if you wish it.
Disclosures: This is the downstairs in-law unit in a small duplex. It is clean, dry and bright for a basement unit, yet be forewarned that it is a basement unit and subject to some of the idiosyncracies thereof. The house is not terribly noise insulated, so living in the same building together requires kind communication around any noise that disturbs each other.
Pets: One cat is OK. No dogs please.
You would be a good fit if you are:
An individual (not a couple or family), quiet, clean, non-smoker, into sharing tea and conversation in the garden, a good communicator,. You like cats and are not allergic to bees. Your interests might include: localism, whole foods, herbalism, healing, psychology, activism, living sustainably, art, dance, yoga, spirituality, DIY
Your Landlady: I live upstairs with my two cats. I am a massage therapist, coach, artist, beekeeper, gardener, permaculturist and freelance educator. I recently started a small school called “The Institute of Urban Homesteading” and some of the classes take place at the house. I work at home during the day 4 days a week so it needs to be pretty quiet during those times. I was a renter for almost 20 years, so I strive to be fair, maintain the property and communicate clearly. I expect the same from you. I tend to be generous and helpful and wish for someone to live downstairs who is, if not a friend, at least friendly and comfortable to be around.
