Swords to Plowshares seeks Overnight Program Monitor
Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and case management, employment and training, housing, and legal assistance to veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area. We promote and protect the rights of veterans through advocacy, public education, and partnerships with local, state, and national entities. Believing that war causes wounds and suffering that last beyond the battlefield, our mission is to heal the wounds of war and to restore dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency to all veterans in need, and to significantly reduce homelessness and poverty among veterans.
We seek qualified applicants for an open Overnight Program Monitor position at the Transitional Housing Program located at Demontfort House in San Francisco. The successful applicant will find resonance in the mission of Swords to Plowshares.
The Overnight Program Monitor is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the Demontfort Residential Housing after regular program hours. The role responds to emergencies and engages in crisis intervention, completes appropriate documentation (Incident Reports) and works with staff to facilitate treatment and identify resident issues.
Administrative tasks include maintaining the Daily Log Book. Other clerical duties may be assigned.
This is a 32 hour part-time position. The hours for this position are: 8 AM to 4PM Saturday and Sunday; and Midnight to 8 AM Monday and Tuesday.
Requirements:
* Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
* Managing the program environment after regular program hours covering weekend shifts.
* Knowledge of Crisis Intervention and de-escalation techniques.
* The ability to recognize relapse behavior.
* Documentation, i.e. Incident Reports and Log Book entries.
* Good communication skills and the ability to interact productively with residents and staff.
* Urinalysis.
* Clerical duties, i.e. photo copying and assembling charts, etc.
* Perform comparable related duties as required by management.
* Bachelor Degree in behavioral science preferred. Associates Degree. High School diploma or GED considered with experience
* Minimum of three (3) years experience working with "hard to serve", substance abuse and mental health clients, with at least one (1) year in a human service agency.
* Ability to be a team player.
* Ability to walk up and down stairs
* Ability to sit for long periods
* Must be able to perform essential job functions within reasonable accommodation
