The selected candidate will supervise a department responsible for antibody development. Supports and works toward achievement of department and functional area goals. You will oversee antibody development projects for internal and external customers. Interfaces with R&D and external customers on new antibody development programs. Trains chemists on equipment and procedures. Works closely with Antibody Manufacturing Supervisor on producing ascites for new product development. Works with Manager and peers to ensure adequate equipment and personnel are available to meet schedule. Writes, reviews and modifies SOPs and work instructions. Keeps department Manager updated on all issues. Writes monthly production reports and project reports as necessary. May perform hands-on manufacturing operations when required to meet schedule. Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables. Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications include a BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline (Biochemistry or Immunology preferred) with 3-5 years related experience and/or training. Experience with immunoassays and ascites production preferred. Experienced in working with potentially hazardous chemicals and human source materials, animal husbandry, initiation and maintenance of cultures, culture vessels and bioreactors. Must also be experienced in development and maintenance of cell hybridomas. Experience with polyclonal antibodies is a plus. Must demonstrate leadership skills or potential. Must demonstrate organizational skills to be able to handle multiple assignments with short deadlines. Working knowledge of QSR and ISO. As a Supervisor, you will complete performance reviews of direct reports, contribute to hiring decisions, coach and train chemists. Responsible for day-to-day operation of the department. Authorized to deviate from approved processes when risks have been evaluated and are low.
