The selected candidate will be directly responsible to the VP of Operations. This person must have proven technical skills and in depth knowledge of methods and materials used to develop catheter delivery systems. You should be mechanically inclined, fluent with the use of tools, able to make and test prototypes and understand the device development process from concept through scale-up for production. Knowledge and relationships with all vendors and external resources needed for development are required. Additionally, this is a hands-on job that will require a person who can multitask while keeping priorities and goals aligned to the needs of the company. We are looking for an energetic thinker and self-starter who is successful operating in a strong team environment. This role will interface with Marketing, Quality and Manufacturing.
Specific duties and responsibilities include managing a key product development effort including providing support for other projects. You must be able to use Solid Works and have mastered design using this tool. You will drive excellence in designing prototypes in the lab utilizing internal and external resources, be mechanically intuitive and proficient in fabrication, testing and trouble shooting. Design and implement testing methods and equipment to thoroughly independently test key device subassemblies prior to assembling a complete prototype. You will observe and work with physicians and should have previous experience developing devices using mechanical skills and pre-prototype testing of key device assemblies.
You will Interact with and manage internal and external engineering resources, be capable of planning, running and documenting verification & validation activities. You should be organized and motivated to do whatever it takes to complete projects according to an established time line and can operate in a regulated environment which will require competence with ISO and GMP quality system compliance and maintenance.
Qualifications include a BS/MS degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education/experience and at least 7-10 years of experience in catheter delivery system design and development. An ability to manage projects and people as needed. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience with catheter delivery systems for stents and product design is required. You should be an accomplished problem solver with a proven track record of successful product launches. Knowledge and experience of design control, regulations, industry standards and document writing is required.
