Custom corset and garment manufacturer seeks production manager. We create both custom and ready-to-wear corsets for individuals and for our retail location. Additionally we produce bridal ensembles, historical and fanciful costumes, as well as individual pieces direct to consumers. We are looking for a self-starter who clearly understands the production process. Applicants should have the skill set to juggle the responsibilities and challenges of a constantly varying number of individual orders and be prepared to increase production capabilities across all departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee project management for small (7-10) staff of patternmakers, cutters, stitchers and finishers.
Supervise production to ensure accurate, timely delivery of product.
Create project estimates, costing, and work plans, along with revisions of each as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Collaborate with controller to ensure timely raw materials purchasing, inventory tracking and control; Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers; source new vendors as needed.
Review garments throughout the production process for adherence to quality control standards
Communicate with management team on any concerns and suggestions for improved workflow; devise and collaborate on improvements along with possible solutions; follow through on implementation of agreed upon changes.
Work in collaboration with retail store manager to ensure that client contact and follow through is handled promptly; this may require direct client contact.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
At least five years of relevant production experience, which may include some retail, executive assistance, business development for small business, costume shop or sample production experience. Must have at least 3 years of management experience.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across simultaneous projects with grace and aplomb in an extremely dynamic work environment.
Strong computer skills (word and excel); ability to learn new programs.
Ability to see the big picture in order to prioritize production scheduling while adjusting to changing circumstances.
Effective oral and written communication skills with an open and direct style.
Detail and quality oriented with strong customer service skills
Goal oriented individual with the ability to manage conflicts and deadlines in a professional and constructive manner using trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
Supportive manager whose responsive attitude inspires fellow team members toward positive outcomes.
