Hello fellow artists,
For some time now I have been waiting for the right opportunity to work on a project that will benefit the art comunnity at large. The time has come.
I invite you and other like artists to join me in the creation of a great art studio, live/work space in Oakland. I am looking at the base level of the Sunshine Biscute factory as a new home for this community project.
There is roughly 14,000 square feet of unimproved space and 7,000 square feet of prebuilt space that needs some improvement.
Depending on the number of people interested and the amount space they need, the community will accomidate any number of artists.
I am drawing on not only my own personal experience in creating this comminity but also those artists who have lived and worked in ather art spaces as well. Some projects succeeded and some failed but each left us with an experience that we can learn from.
I believe that this can successfully be an affordable and adventagous opportunity for all of us.
Before I sign the lease on this space I welcome comments and suggestions from you, my fellow artists. What do you see as a perfect live/work artists community? What are your experiences (good or bad)? Pros and cons, highlites and pit falls… you get the idea.
If you want to see the space, contact me here and we'll all walk through it toghther.
