Location Oakland East
We are three amazing, queer, activist, creative types sharing a loft in Fruitvale, just off the 23rd Ave exit of 880, and we're looking for the right roomie to complete the space. The loft is unique and gorgeous- perfect for certain folks- hopefully you!

The loft is a gorgeous, playful, two-floor space which we all use as live/work. Huge common area, nice kitchen, plenty of space for gatherings, workshops, and projects. We have a... big fridge, one bathroom with a clawfoot tub and open shower, a stage (yes, a stage), one and a half pianos, some unique, sexy handmade furniture, cool projects, and smart, interesting people who come through.

The room for rent is on the lower level, with an interior window.

We're a close walk (and a closer bike ride) to the Fruitvale Bart, Alameda's Park St with hella restaurants, bars, bookstores, etc, Oakland's Chinatown, Lake Merrit, and many others. Grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance.

The space is very active with work stuff during the day, and the evenings are most often very chill. Roomies can often be found relaxing in the bathtub, watching a movie on our projector, or kicking it with friends in the space. We're all sex-positive, radical, queer types, so we're often walking around naked, bathing while others are brushing teeth, etc. Being comfortable with sharing your space this way is a big plus.

Gatherings and guests often come through the space, adding an exciting energy.

We share most food, occasionally making dinner together. We all are committed to our work, which is an integral part of our lives and our home, but we also like to kick back with some beers and music too.

The household is built on mutual respect- for our home, our belongings, our privacy, our work, and our communities. Open communication is paramount. We enjoy each other's company, have some amazing conversations, and meet great people through each other.

If you are a community leader and would like to create events in the space, all the better! Some ideas we've implemented or are about to: Acoustic jam sessions, book clubs, fundraising parties, poetry slams, sex ed classes, mixers, writing parties, theater rehearsals, etc.

Living here is a great opportunity for the right person who's looking for a environment of likeminded folks who are chill, respectful, creative, and somewhat visionary.

About you: Being a queer is a big plus. Being a queer woman is even better. Ideally, you keep a normal-ish schedule (going to bed between 11pm and 3am on the regular) and have your own work, friends, and projects going on. Most of our days begin between 9am and 11am, though if you're an early riser, that's just fine. The space is very open, and we conduct our household as such- which means clear communication and mutual respect are at the top of our needs. Being financially stable enough to pay rent on time and pitch in for groceries is necessary. You do your dishes and clean up after yourself. We're looking for community minded people who are eager to create a home for themselves here.

About us: Reid is a sex educator and works from home when he's not traveling, which is often. He often runs workshops from the space, which happen about once every two weeks and bring in a lot of cool folks. You're always welcome to attend. Allison is a writer and theater person who works from home most of the time. Allison and Reid share the upstairs, semi-private room. Mollie is an activist and non-profit worker who works from home about half the time. She has a private room on the first floor.

We are all very passionate about our work and our creative projects and would love for our new roomie to bring a fresh energy to the space with her own passions and projects.

Rent is $610 including all utilities and wifi. Easy street parking. Washing machine in the loft, dryer in the building. Basketball hoop, dog park, surrounded by artists and cool folks. 420 friendly. Sorry, no pets. $300 deposit

Available September 1st. We ask for a commitment through the holidays, though there's flexibility.

Please spread the word!
