Hello! I have a room for rent in my live/work loft space in Alameda. The room is roughly 11'x13'. There is no closet, but I do have a little bit of storage space elsewhere (not a ton though- this is probably best for a person without alot of material possessions). The room interior can be painted to suit your taste (save the brick).
Alameda is not far away from civilization. the loft is about a 5 minute drive from Downtown Oakland, and it takes 15 minutes to get to the Bay Bridge. The bus stops right outside my place, and you can easily get to BART, Oakland, Berkeley, SF. For example, the 51 bus stops right out front for a direct shot to the CCA east bay campus. The casual carpool also picks up right outside, making for a pretty easy $free commute to downtown SF in the mornings. However, I find that even though I have easy access to the city, I spend a lot of time here. Alameda is surprisingly cool.
The place has a pretty open layout- there are a few partial walls erected to section off the space, but your room is the only real room . The kitchen is roomy, lots of space. There is a washer and dryer in the building that are free to use, shared between us and our two neighbors. There is a bit of open space in the house for projects and crafts.. but I like to keep the common area of the house open at all times as it doubles as a dancefloor and movie theater. There is roof access on our deck for smoking and hanging out. There is plenty of parking here and a permit is available from the city to park in the lot. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. This loft can range from being extremely quiet to extremely raucously noisy and fun, an ability to contend with that is vital to living here.
About the inhabitant: I am Sean, 31, an eccentric artist, dj/producer and graphic designer. I also have a trainspotting cat, Protege who is lovable when she warms up to you.
You should be around my age-ish, responsible, independent, considerate, open minded, *sane*, not allergic to cats and don't have a lot of stuff. A high tolerance to spontaneous parties, bass, other noise. Liking pinball and/or electronic music is a plus. My cat is a pretty territorial kitty cat, so no more pets please. An artist/art student, musician, dancer, burner, current or former raver, dj, graphic designer, or any open minded creative type would probably be happiest here, although I'm open to all types.
I'm looking for someone that would like to cook dinner together every now and then with friends, have a drink after work, maybe do some projects together sometimes. Mostly just share in having fun and being open minded in an awesome place to live.

Rent is $625, plus $35 a month for internet. All other utilities are billed quarterly and divided fairly among all tenants in the building (keep some money in the bank). Deposit is first and last month's rent. The room is available now and is rented month to month. I prefer a long term renter but am open to short term rents as well as travelers. I look forward to meeting you. =)
