Times are rough
and it looks like this is just the beginning.
Despite this fact, writing is still a way
to not only make a little money here and there,
but also a great reason to gather as community,
enjoy the pleasure of creating and sharing your expression
and perhaps to sort things out in your own head
during difficult times.
The ELYSEUM Writers Wordshop has always been
a free community gathering based on
the Gift Economy, relying more
on the individual talents and skills
that our participants bring to the table
than on the ego and $$$ based model
of many writers workshops out there.
We've been going strong now for three years
with a core group of strong and dedicated writers.
Over half of our participants are published
and working writers who enjoy sharing writing
and publishing tips with the group.
The joy of writing is well known
but the real power of it
comes from refining, perfecting
and sharing our insights and creative labors.
Not interested in "preaching to the choir",
this group features an *open genre* format,
accomondating to writers of ANY form.
The theory goes that the poet can help sharpen
the language of the novelist; The playwrite could help
the journalist present ideas in a compelling manner;
Likewise, the journalist could show the poet
how to get her ideas across to a wider audience...
(-I could go on, but I think you get the picture)
While our community has grown close
we welcome new professional and aspiring writers
of ALL levels.
Novices find encouragement and support
in the form of constructive feedback
while more advanced writers
who desire detailed or demanding critique
may get just that
(-if only you ask for it...)
We meet twice a week for our Wordshops:
Tuesdays, 7:30 pm @ the Marsh Cafe
1070 Valencia St. SF CA
(between 21st & 22nd, not far from BART)

Fridays, 5:30 pm @ Harbin Hot Springs
18424 Harbin Springs Road, Middletown, CA
(South Lake County, close to Calistoga)

If you are interested, you can contact us here
or simply come by and check things out for yourself.
