Eclectic, friendly woman seeking room in eco-friendly house (Berkeley, North Oakland, Albany, Lake Merritt)

Location East Bay
I’m 37, female, and am looking for an unfurnished room in a shared flat/apt/house. I’m looking to move in June or July. I can pay up to $850 or so (plus utilities), but would prefer to pay less.

A little about me: I’m down-to-earth, friendly, easy-going, communicative, and have a good sense of humor. I work as a paralegal in SF, but I find my life outside of work a lot more interesting than my work life. My interests include electronic music, earth-based spirituality, astrology, books, working out and travel, among other things. I’m an east coast transplant, but I’ve been here long enough (since ’93) that I’ve sadly lost all traces of my north Jersey accent. I’m a considerate and conscientious roommate, and am also very responsible (i.e. I have good credit, I’ve never paid rent late or bounced a check, etc.)

I consider myself a feminist and am definitely queer-friendly (hmm – am I still queer? Maybe…) I have fairly radical politics, and used to be more of an activist, but am currently using my free time for other interests.

I have no pets, but would love to live with a cat or cats if you have any, and can provide kitty-sitting care while you are away.

I’m pretty health and ecology-conscious, and am also somewhat sensitive to strong chemical products, so I’m looking for a household where we can use more eco-friendly products whenever possible. (Essential oils and quality incense are fine, though - it's not a scent thing.)

I don’t smoke tobacco. I am 420-friendly, but don't partake very often.

I eat meat (mainly organic and free-range) and am looking for an omnivorous kitchen (though I can respect keeping separate pots and pans for vegetarians if desired). I'm not a slob (well, in the common areas, anyway – my room is another story).

Also, I don’t watch much TV (except for occasional dvd rentals), and would like to live somewhere it’s not turned on all the time.

I do have a lot of books (well, I don't consider it a lot, and have been weeding the collection), and I’d like to find a place with room for a bookcase outside of my room, unless the room is somewhat large.

I have experience living in roommate situations and also in a collective house. This year I experimented with living alone for the first time and while it's been nice, it’s been rather expensive, and I also do miss living with other people.

If I sound like I might be a good match for you, please send a reply. Thanks!
