Vote No on Prop 98!
In the wake of the Supreme Court’s broad re-interpretation of eminent domain in 2005, Californians need new state-level protections to stop city, county or local governments from seizing their private property and handing it over to developers on a whim.
Vote No on Proposition 98!
Don’t be fooled. Proposition 98 masquerades as eminent domain reform to protect property owners from government land grabs, but closer inspection reveals unmistakable proof of greedy specials interests at work.
If we don't stop Proposition 98, it will jeopardize important environmental regulations and zoning laws that allow the state to:
* protect our imperiled wildlife and habitats.
* address global warming and climate change.
* safeguard our drinking water and water supply.
* protect sensitive wetlands and coastal areas.
* limit urban sprawl, polluting industries and irresponsible development.
* preserve our old growth forests and open spaces.
* protect agricultural lands, and culturally and historically significant sites.
* incentivize “smart growth” solutions to transportation and city planning.
* protect California renters from excessive rent increases.
For example, if a logging company wanted to clear cut a forest that pacific fishers need to survive, and California Fish and Game requires the company to leave some trees standing to protect the fisher, the state -- and taxpayers like you and me -- would then have to pay the logging company for any money it may have lost by not being able to cut down those trees.
It's outrageous. If Prop 98 passes, it will likely unleash a deluge of lawsuits -- costing taxpayers millions of dollars and preventing real progress in the state.
Developers and landlords are exploiting the public’s justifiable fear of losing their property to eminent domain and pouring millions into getting this hidden interest ballot measure passed.
Don’t let developers and landlords pull the wool over your eyes. Help us stop them again by getting out there and voting NO on Prop 98 tomorrow.

There’s a better solution. Proposition 99 will protect private homeowners and landowners without the hidden agendas and devastating environmental costs.
