Wet and WarmMmmm: Hot Wax playshop

Hot Wax play can vary from a warm sensual scene, to a form of bondage, to pain, to theater, to terror. Wax can be delivered from a lit candle, or many ways from a melter. Each gives different sensations. We cover all techniques, and how to choose equipment and supplies. And we’ll debunk some widespread misconceptions. This is not related to “Brazilian waxing” type hair removal.
You’ll learn how to play with hot wax, how to keep it safe, and how to minimize the mess. The class is aimed at intermediate or advanced players, but may be suitable for some beginners.
This is a hands-on playshop, not just a demo or brief sample. We’ll teach and demonstrate the range of play, then coach you through your own experiments. We provide complete loaner equipment. Wax can be hard to remove from clothing. You’ll want to be careful, or bring/wear expendable clothes, or be undressed. The evening is clothing optional. This is popular evening.
The evening has four parts (times approximate):
7 – 7:30 Brown Bag Munch
7:30 – 8:30 Presentation and Demos
8:30 - 9:30 Guided Hands-on Wax practice
9:30 - 10:30 Open practice.
You don’t need to bring anything. You may bring your general toy bag for the open practice period. Undressing is permitted and common, but not required.
Partners: Hot Wax play can be practiced alone or in pairs/groups. It’s better to prearrange a lab partner, rather than try to pair up during the munch period. If you want to find a suitable partner in advance, we recommend you join and post on edukink.tribe.net and/or fetlife.com/groups/1780
Reservations not required. Membership not required. You don't need to wear anything special. The event is open to anyone 18 years and older with a sincere, positive, personal interest in BDSM / leather / kink. All roles, genders, and orientations welcome. Paideia (“pie DAY ah”) is a Greek word meaning “learning through play”. Paideia evenings are more than regular workshops. First we socialize. You may bring your dinner or snacks to eat during the munch period. Then we see demos. Then we do the guided hands-on workshop. You’ll mainly work in pairs learning and refining your skills. Then during the open practice period, you may integrate your new skills with other play techniques. Or you may do more practice, or watch the variety of techniques that others practice.

Angela and Iain are officers in the Society of Janus, Dungeon Monitors for SF Citadel and elsewhere, and teach BDSM classes at all levels, at many venues. Their teaching style combines humor and approachability with clarity and thorough research.

“Wet and Warmmmm – Hot Wax” is part of the Paideia series of monthly BDSM/leather events / playshops mainly for those of intermediate or advanced experience. The format intends to combine the best elements of hands-on workshops, a munch, a play party, and a peer workshop. More than a dozen topics are planned for these playshops, on both common and exotic topics. We have a core study group who increase the depth and breadth of their play each month, as well as have fun together.
