Hardwood floors throughout, the living room is warm and cozy with pocket doors between the dining room. The eat in kitchen was updated about 5 years ago so it has a microwave, gas stove, dishwasher and a lot of food storage. Some small electrics are included (coffee maker, toaster oven, etc). There is a washer/dryer(!) off the kitchen. The bathroom has been restored and features a clawfoot tub and pedestal sink.
All 3 bedrooms are 9x11 or thereabouts, each with a closet and tallish ceilings. One room is very sunny and has a view overlooking the backyard garden.
Theres plenty of car parking on the surrounding streets.

Close to all amenities, short distance to Oakland International Airport, Childrens’ Hospital, Port of Oakland, UC Berkeley, Emeryville’s International Plaza, Bay Street Shops & Restaurants, IKEA, Best Buys, Home Depot, Movie Theater, Oakland Library, National Holistic Institute and JFK Arts Campus. It is a mile from the bustling Temescal and Art Murmur districts, less than 2 miles from College ave, Piedmont ave restaurants and historic downtown Oakland.
The Emery-go-round, which is two blocks away, provides free transportation around Emeryville, to Bay Street shopping area, IKEA and BART. The new and developing San Pablo Ave shopping area is within easy walking distance. Many great shops and restaurants are already there, like Arizmendi Pizza and Bakery, Manzanita (vegetarian) and Forenzu restaurants, with more to come.
Community – You would join an eclectic and diverse group of active neighbors working to create a model neighborhood. We are doing it. This is a pro-active neighborhood.
The neighborhood is a diverse group of great neighbors who know and care about each other. It is a mix of new and old with a lot character, and characters of the older neighborhood, but with many new people coming into the area. It’s quiet compared to other urban areas. Everyone is super friendly and you'll rarely leave the "hood" without saying hello to someone.
What you MUST be comfortable with:
The neighborhood is typical Oakland: better than some parts of town, worse than others. I've fared pretty well so far and am actively working to improve it.
It's a very diverse urban neighborhood; we have middle and working class students, church ladies, crackheads, lawyers, activists, teachers, artists, and drug dealers all in the same neighborhood and sometimes even on the same block. If you can’t get along with all sorts of people this community will not be a good fit.
If you are looking for a neighborhood that is socially and ethnically homogenized, with manicured lawns and everyone driving a new car this isn't it. If you like different kinds of people who are friendly, share their various backgrounds and make caring, interesting neighbors you will like this street.
About Commuting:
Located on Market Street, between 37th and West MacArthur, the house is near all major freeways. The entrance ramps to 80N, 580E and 24 are within a block. The 80 bus is at the corner. It’s really close to the MacArthur Bart Station: 11 min. walking ( I walk fast and timed it) or a 5 min. bike- on a singlespeed.
Cats are OK. A well behaved dog is OK. Additional pet deposit may be required depending on how large your menagerie is.
Rent is $1750 a month w/ 1 month security deposit. I am flexible with payment of the security deposit. Trash and recycling is included. Other utilities (PG and E, Water) are paid by tenant. Move in is June 15th and possibly earlier.
