SIFU MICHAEL SHAMAN will present the first of five 3 hour intensive workshops on the FIVE ANIMAL FROLICS (WuQinXi) of HUA TO from 2 to 5 PM, SATURDAY MAY 24, at ZENTER /PRANA/TEMPLE SF (aka ZenCompoundSF), 540 Howard Street, San Francisco 94122. The FROLICS have been passed down in their current form, teacher to student, for about 2,000 years. Many of them have been practiced for perhaps more than 50,000 years before that as Tribal and Clan Totem Animals. They are the original Qigong Healing Movement forms from which many Internal and External Martial Arts and Healing Arts systems are derived or descend, including TAI CHI CHUAN and the SHAOLIN KUNG FU Animals.
In this, the first workshop in the series, an introduction will be made to the overall WuQinXi System, followed by a concentrated training in the First Element: Fire and its Totem Animal Representative: the White Crane. Each of what are often called the 5 Taoist Animals, corresponds with an Element, a Healing Organ, a Direction, a Principle, a Sound, A Season, a Hand, a Posture, and a Variation on Breathing, among many other of the 10,000 Things. The WHITE CRANE, which will be studied in the May 24 workshop, is of the ELEMENT of FIRE and is primarilly used to help HEAL AND STRENGTHEN THE HEART and the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM.
Sifu Michael Shaman has been teaching Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong, including the 5 ANIMAL FROLICS of HUA TO, professionally for over 25 years.
