Afsaneh Art & Culture Society - Ballet Afsaneh proudly presents Festival of the Silk Road - 2011, a full of evening of dance, music and poetry from the Silk Road including Iran, Mongolia, Turkey, China, Azerbaijan, India, Afghanistan, Tajikistan & more. Fun for the whole family! The festival unites a group of phenomenal Bay Area dance and musical guests to present a joyful exploration of the rich cultural traditions of the Silk Road, as well as a not-to-miss pre-performance bazaar including traditional clothing, art, and refreshments. Ballet Afsaneh also invites you to come celebrate their 25-year anniversary along with the many talented guest artists at this year's festival. Dance and music artists include Ballet Afsaneh, Yore Turkish Folkdance Ensemble, the award-winning Chinese Performing Arts of America, Khukh Tenger - Mongolian Dance Group, Shahrzad Dance Company, and Niosha Dance Academy. Esteemed musical guests include: the Zaryab Persian Music Ensemble, Ebrahimi Brothers, Turkish Classical Music group, Chinese Performing Arts Music Ensemble .... many more!
Critically acclaimed performance group Ballet Afsaneh presents gorgeously crafted, authentic and rarely-seen traditional dances and music from Central Asia and Iran, ranging from the lush and glittering lyricism of fairytale to incisive, thought provoking, contemporary work. Ballet Afsaneh presents concerts and activities throughout the year featuring dance, poetry, and music of the Silk Road - the historic trade route stretching 7,000 miles across Eurasia from the China Sea in the east to the Mediterranean in the west.
